The nearest supermarket (Co-Op) is in Broadford (12 miles away). There is also a small local shop in Ardvasar village near Armadale.

There are post offices at Armadale and in Broadford. Both also have garages that supply fuel.

The nearest train station is at Kyle of Lochalsh. Should you wish, the trip to Inverness from Kyle goes through some spectacular scenery.

There are many craft shops and studios you can visit on Skye as well as on the nearby mainland.

Cruises are available e.g. from Elgol, Kyle of Lochalsh which can take one to see the local marine life.

If you enjoy climbing, Skye boasts the famous Cuillin range and there are numerous beautiful walks.

At Kylerhea there is an otter hide. There is also a small ferry to Glenelg on the mainland.

The ferry from Armadale is the main ferry port and takes you to Mallaig. Here there is a train line to Fort William which passes over the Glenfinnan viaduct of Harry Potter fame.
