Although there is a bus service in the Highlands, the areas are vast and some of the buses infrequent. Car travel is the most comfortable way of getting around.

There are several ways to get to this part of the Highlands:

  • By plane, rail or bus to Inverness: from where you could hire a car. It would be best to book this in advance
  • By car – One can travel the full distance by road as there is a beautiful bridge connecting The Isle of Skye to the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh
  • By car and ferry. In this case you would travel to Mallaig and take the ferry to Armadale. The ferry is best booked in advance (CalMac ferries)

Directions to Speuran Mòra:
From Kyle of Lochalsh Cross the bridge aiming for Broadford (A87)
Just before reaching Broadford there is a turn-off to your left (A851) marked Ardvasar/Armadale/Isle Ornsay. From here travel for 11 miles. Shortly after passing the Toravaig Hotel on the left the road curves down and our turnoff is on the right hand side. It is signposted An Teanga/Sasaig. Continue up this road and bear right up to the top of the hill.
Dead ahead of you will be a gate. It has the names of the houses on this croft ‘Pennybridge’ and Speuran Mòra.
Continue in and bear to the right down a new, gravel road until you reach the house
Coming from Armadale (if you have used the ferry crossing):
Coming off the ferry follow the main road (A851) for 4 miles till you see the An Teanga/Sasaig on your left. Continue as above
